"Most people have no idea of the giant capacity we can immediately command when we focus all of our resources on mastering a single area of our lives." Anthony Robbins. I acknowledge that I do have ambitions in life. taking the words of Anthony one would like to focus on mastering a singe area of his life on getting the right skills. My motivation for remaining in teaching is that now Iam part of the system that had many of my colleague with less or no knowledge of the ICT. They are regarded as immigrant. It is for me to fill the gap that exist even though my impact will not be that much. Currently Iam working as a Departmental Head.My disappointment is that I'm working with a manager who is computer illiterate and is not ready for change. We are five in our School SMT. Sometimes it give me the feelings that may be I'm a threat to the management because they don't want change. Evidence is that they don't have the know how. I have three years in this institution and I have not seen any change. So one can stay and hope things will change or in order not to waste my time If I want to remain in education one must look for another career path like promotion in another institution or to the district. Otherwise one will have to further the study in order to venture into the private sector.I like teaching and already I have show-cast my expertise at the school and the district so what is left is for me to make the next move.
ICT may be of help if the government make it a policy that every manager must be well conversant with ICT because they are the ones who do not want to change thus denying the school to implement ICT.Iam already using it in teaching because Iam using my laptop and it is easy to use in class. Iam looking forward to buying a video projector so I can take full advantage of what Iam capable of doing.

It a sorry state of affairs when people do not want to embrace & move with change. Change is one of the most uncomfortable natural phenomena in a man's (human being) life; and it is mostly beneficial & meant to simplify things from our traditional ways of doing them, inversely the that eminent change compels us to move out of our comfortable cocoon and adapt to creative ways of advancing our course on earth.
I admire your ability not to let the depressing state suffocate & deter you from implementing & sharing with your learners the expertise you have amassed. At times I also with that those opposed to change & effective implementation of ICT could be given severance packages & leave the system, thus affording innovative ideas to enhance our education.
Thanks for sharing with us. It is indeed frustrating when others especilally the SMT members are not on the same level as you. My suggestion is to hang on in there and make that change within the school. Do not feel threaten by "ignorance" of others. If learners are enjoying what you are doing it, is great.
It is very much encouraging and I think you are at the right place ,i.e.in the department of education where there is a policy in the form of white paper 7,on education which stipulates that every manager, administrator, teacher and learner need to confidently and creatively be able to handle ICT's by 2013.Your skills are rare and highly in demand in the demand, just stay focused.
They dont realize how fortunate they are to have you because you would take the school to a higher level. They will regret when it is too late.Dont be discouraged continue with your studies and the sky must be the limit.
