WEBQUEST EXPERIENCE

Web quest designed was one of my best experience that I will remember for the course that I was doing at UJ. The challenge that Iam not sure about is the issue of laptop initiative where teachers are expected to use webquest. Will educators be ready for this challenge? What about the government ? Is this one of those initiatives that come ad go without any thing being done ?

Here is how I experienced the use of the zunal tool in making webquest

I understand that as part of the government initiative teachers will be given laptops. Teachers will be required to use webquest in their teaching. The question is who will be teaching this multitude number of computer illiterate educators ? I think more funds will be needed to roll the initiatives into motion. At the cost of around R11000, 00 per educator the initiatives seems heading for archives.

I also think the initiatives like other ones will not materialized. How many educators are well trained on the National Curriculum Statement ? We often blame our learners for low pass rate in grade 12.I think some of the things in the post apartheid era were good and we needed to continue doing it. I am also a the product of that era but when I compare myself with to days generations Iam better . Discipline and the rights to learners seems to be the core problem . Teachers moral is at the lowest due to lack of motivation and the insentives they get from the government.

Anonymous I understand your frustration about the initiatives, Iam lucky to be furthering my study specialising in ICT , hoping that when some of us graduate we will not be selfish but will have to share the knowledge with others in other to develop one another .You will remember that the same initiatives talk about peer coaching. This means that we have the responsibility of coaching other end-users to adapt in using the technology.

Yes Mona, it seems that it is not going to materialized but let try to give it a try and accept that we can not bring back such experienced as we experienced during the eighties and the nineties. We were born as digital immigrants and they are born as as digital natives. Like our government nobody ever gave it a chance that we can govern ourselves. Look at where our country it is today. There had been a very visible transformation in every sphere of our lives even though it is not dramatic. May be the recession also caught us to an extent that the obligation that the government aught to do are unattainable.
